By simply telling others about Christian persecution and violations of religious freedom, you are making a huge impact! We have seen numerous Christians released from false imprisonment, saved from the death penalty, and given hope because of YOUR help.

Not only can you advocate to government officials, you can also publicize the atrocities and hardships of Secret Believers. You can influence your circle of friends and family by educating them through www.secretbelievers.org. Also, consider using the following tools to generate press coverage with local newspapers and magazines.

Letters to the Editor
One of the most commonly read items in a newspaper are Letters to the Editor. As you read an article or news story, consider writing the newspaper in response to what you read. Whenever you see breaking news about religious freedom, Christians in the Muslim world, or Muslim/Christian conflict, write the editor of your local newspaper with your thoughts and feedback. Remind them that there is a Church caught in the conflict, and that many Muslims are open to the gospel. Letters should be short in length, approximately 200 words, and concise in thought.

Opinion Editorials
Op-eds can captivate and stir up much discussion among your peer groups and local media. You can use an op-ed to inform about the reality of Christian persecution, while also sharing personal stories of those who have suffered violations of religious freedom. Many times op-ed pieces are written by those with notable public platforms (community officials, authors, professors), but they can also be written by concerned individuals who are simply committed to a cause. You should ask your newspaper for their unique procedures and rules for publication of op-ed pieces.

Blog Postings
Blogs are one of the fastest growing ways to update your friends and family about your life. Sites like www.blogger.com, www.myspace.com, and www.wordpress.com make it easy for you to start your own blog with text, images, and hyperlinks on the internet. Four out of ten internet users now read blogs regularly. You can share about Secret Believers with your circle of influence in the blogosphere by offering comments on articles and editorials you read about religious freedom, hyperlinking to the Secret Believers website, or creating your own blog entries on the subject of Christian persecution. Also, consider reading the Secret Believers book and give your critique on your blog.
