What happens when Muslims believe in Christ? Secret Believers, those that have converted from Islam to Christianity, face serious and life-threatening persecution every day.
As a Secret Believer, you might endure:
- isolation, disowned by your family and community
- interrogation
- arrest and torture
- constant surveillance and threats
- kidnapping
- death
In Saudi Arabia, where strict Shari'a law rules, Muslims who convert to Christianity can be sentenced to death. Bibles are banned. Christians cannot meet together under any circumstance.
In April 2007 in Turkey, three Christian men were murdered for printing and distributing Bibles and other religious materials.
Their throats had been cut and their bodies marred by multiple stab wounds.
A little country called Eritrea in Africa arrested more than 2,000 Christians last year , locking them in large shipping containers and leaving them to dehydration, malnutrition and death.
Converts Keep Coming, Despite Radical Islam
Fundamental, radical Islam is on the rise, making headlines in Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran, Egypt, and all over the world. And yet, we see more converts from Islam than ever before!
"One night Christ appeared to me in a dream and said with a tender sweet voice, 'I love you!'," offered Ibrahim, a Muslim convert from Egypt.
"Alone in my room, I decided to pray to Jesus for the very first time. I awkwardly said: 'Jesus, I don't know who you are. I don't know if you're a prophet; I don't know if you are the Lord. I don't know if you're dead, or if you're alive. But if you are alive, and if you are Lord, then please show me,'" shared Esther from Pakistan.
"After I became Christian I had no more hatred for all the Infidels. I started to love humanity above everything else," said a new convert.
Lives are being changed, despite terrorist attacks and fierce opposition. "The gospel of Jesus changes wicked, hateful, sinful, lying murderous people into saints who demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience-all the fruits of the Holy Spirit," says Brother Andrew.
Secret Believers face never-ending suffering. And yet, the power of Jesus, living in the hearts of Secret Believers, is greater than Islam. It transforms lives.
