One Secret Believer is Missing
Shiraz Fatharrahman (20) went into hiding in March 2006 after her Muslim family discovered her reading a Bible. They burned the Bible, beat her severely and threatened to kill her. She fled for her life. After her parents reported her disappearance, police arrested 6 Christians and charged them with her kidnapping. When Shiraz learned her friends had been arrested, she turned herself into police.

Please remember the Christians in Sudan. Visit our prayer campaign to learn how to specifically pray for them.

Sudan
Approximately 25% of Sudan's people are Christians, while 65% are Muslim. The country is divided, with Muslims concentrated in the north and Christians living in the south or in the Nuba mountain range. A civil war has raged between Muslims and non-Muslims for over 14 years. Government militias have been battling two rebel groups, and caught in the crossfire are millions of innocent people, many of whom are Christians.

Christian villages are regularly attacked by Muslim fundamentalists. Churches are burned and destroyed. Women are raped, and children sold into slavery. Weapons for these attacks are often supplied by government militias, attempting to make Sudan an Arab-Islamic State. Hospitals, schools, and churches are also targets for bombings and burnings.

The civil war has resulted in over 2 million displaced refugees. Over 3.5 million people are reliant upon international aid for survival. And over 400,000 people have died by genocide, war, and famine in Sudan since 1983. Many of those are Christians.
